Modifying the site map layout

Use the Site Map Layout options to customize the appearance of your site map. You can specify the home page, the number of columns displayed, whether the icon labels display the file name or the page title, and whether to show hidden and dependent files.

To modify the site map layout:

1 Open the Site Definition dialog box using one of these methods:
Choose Site > Define Sites and then click Edit. Select Site Map Layout in the Category list on the left.
Choose View > Layout (Windows) or Site > Site Map View > Layout (Macintosh).
2 Click the folder icon to browse for a home page for the site, or type a file path in the Home Page field. The home page must be on the local site.
If you don't specify a home page—and Dreamweaver cannot find a file called index.html or index.htm at the root—Dreamweaver will prompt you to select a home page when you open the site map.
3 Choose from the Column options:
In the Number of Columns field, type a number to set the number of pages to display per row in the site map window.
In the Column Width field, type a number to set the width in pixels of the site map columns.
4 Under Icon Labels, select whether the name displayed with the document icons in the site map is represented as a file name or as a page title.
5 Under Options, select which files to display in the site map:
Choose Display Files Marked as Hidden to display HTML files that are marked as hidden by the user in the site map. If a page is hidden, its name and links are displayed in italics. For information about hiding files, see Showing and hiding site map files.
Choose Display Dependent Files to show all dependent files in the site's hierarchy. A dependent file is an image or other non-HTML content that is loaded by the browser when the main page is loaded.
