Template preferences

You can use Dreamweaver's highlighting preferences to customize the highlight colors for the outlines around the editable and locked regions of a template. The editable region color appears in the template itself as well as in documents based on the template; the locked region color appears only in documents based on the template.

To change template highlight colors:

1 Choose Edit > Preferences and select the Highlighting category.
2 Click the Editable Regions color box and select a highlight color using the color picker (or enter the hexadecimal value for the highlight color in the text box). Do the same for Locked Regions. For information about using the color picker, see Working with colors.
3 Click the Show option to enable or disable the display of these colors in the Document window.
4 Click OK.

To view highlight colors in the Document window:

Choose View > Visual Aids > Invisible Elements.

Highlight colors appear in the document window only when View > Visual Aids > Invisible Elements is enabled and the appropriate options are enabled in Highlighting preferences.

Note: If invisible elements are showing but the highlight colors are not, choose Edit > Preferences and make sure that the Show option next to the appropriate highlight color is selected. Also make sure that the chosen color is visible against the background color of your page. (If you're color-blind, you may need to change the highlight color from its default to a more visible color.)
